Schleich Triceratops Review

My daughter really loves Triceratops, so we had to get this one as well. We've had an early Christmas with one set of relatives, so she's already been playing with this 1:40 scale Triceratops & the 1:40 scale Stegosaurus.
Like the other dinos in this 1:40 scale range from Schleich, it comes with a little plastic man (unpainted) to show the relative size of the dino to a human being.
The Triceratops is a little dull in coloration compared to the Stegosaurus & even the 1:40 Allosaurus, not that anybody knows what colors these animals actually were in "real life". Length-wise, it's about the same size as the Stegosaurus, but you can tell the difference between the Stegosaurus' small head and Triceratops' enormous head. That physical difference, and the fact that these replicas are done in the same scale - it really gives you a way to picture the very real distinctions between these animals without having to take a trip to a natural history museum.
One more comment after a good amount of play: the paint isn't sealed in a durable manner, so with some dragging or rough treatment, the tips of the Triceratops' horns & beak-y mouth & tail have worn through to the lighter colored plastic. The plastic itself is durable, and with Daddy's hobby paints, it wasn't hard to make the Triceratops look like new again. However, it's probably not a good idea to give these dinos to a child who is in the "put everything into the mouth & chew on it" phase.
